3 steps to your new smile

with dental veneers

Step 1:

complimentary consultation

Step 2:

temporaries
This is where the magic begins! Prior to this visit Dr. Houston has digitally created your new smile to enhance your natural features based off your conversation from the previous visit. No two smiles are the same, so your smile should be custom to your face. You get to leave with custom temporaries which will mimic the permanent veneers!

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells crafted from porcelain or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. Designed to mimic the natural look and feel of enamel, veneers provide a seamless and aaesthetically pleasing transformation.

They are an excellent option for addressing a variety of cosmetic dental concerns, offering both durability and a natural appearance.

What Are Veneers made of?

Porcelain or composite resin. Dr Houston only offers porcelain veneers due to its
superiority:

  • Does not stain as easily
  • Strong and last 10-15 years and longer
  • Have a natural looking surface
  • Less tooth structure removal compared to crowns

Types of Veneers

At LifeSmiles of New Hope, we offer two main types of veneers to suit your needs:

  • Porcelain Veneers: Renowned for their strength and stain resistance, porcelain veneers closely resemble natural teeth and provide a highly durable solution for a flawless smile.
  • Composite Resin Veneers: These are crafted from a tooth-colored resin material and are a more affordable option. While slightly less durable than porcelain veneers, they still offer a beautiful and natural appearance.

Benefits of Veneers

  1. Enhanced Aaaesthetics: Achieve a whiter, more uniform smile instantly.
  2. Durable and Long-Lasting: With proper care, veneers can last 10 to 15 years or more.
  3. Minimally Invasive: Veneer placement involves minimal removal of natural tooth structure.
  4. Stain Resistance: Porcelain veneers resist stains, keeping your smile bright over time.
  5. Customizable: Veneers are tailored to match the size, shape, and color of your natural teeth.
  6. Boosted Confidence: A beautiful smile can improve your self-esteem and make you more confident in social and professional settings.

Is Veneer Treatment Right for You?

Veneers are a versatile solution for various dental concerns. You might consider veneers if you have:

  • Stained or discolored teeth that don’t respond to whitening treatments
  • Chipped, cracked, or worn-down teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Slightly misaligned or uneven teeth

Veneers are a great choice for individuals looking to make subtle yet impactful changes to their smile. Our team at LifeSmiles of New Hope will assess your oral health and discuss your goals during your initial consultation to determine if veneers are the right choice for you.

Caring for Your Veneers

Maintaining your veneers is simple and similar to caring for your natural teeth. Follow these tips to prolong the life of your veneers:

  • Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss daily to maintain oral health.
  • Avoid biting into hard objects like ice or pens, which could damage your veneers.
  • Wear a mouthguard during sports or if you grind your teeth at night.
  • Schedule regular dental checkups and professional cleanings with our team to ensure your veneers stay in top condition.
  • Limit consumption of stain-causing foods and beverages, such as coffee, tea, and red wine, to preserve the brightness of your smile.

Veneers vs. Other Cosmetic Treatments

While there are numerous cosmetic dental treatments available, veneers offer unique advantages that set them apart:

  • Teeth Whitening: While whitening treatments can brighten your smile, they may not address structural imperfections like chips or gaps. Veneers provide a comprehensive solution by improving both color and shape.
  • Dental Bonding: Bonding is an affordable option for minor cosmetic issues, but veneers offer a more durable and natural-looking result for larger transformations.
  • Orthodontics: For slight misalignments, veneers can provide the appearance of straighter teeth without the need for braces or aligners.

Veneers FAQs

How many teeth are recommended?

It depends on what your overall goal is - typically 8 or 10 upper veneers. If you look in the mirror look at how many teeth you show when smiling. Nonsurgical face lifts can be accomplished by completing the lowers at the same time to open a patients bite, however the lowers do not have to be done at the same time as the uppers.

How long does the process take?

About 6 weeks in total from start to finish.

What’s included in the cost?

We pride ourselves in being upfront with costs so the overall cost includes everything – temporaries, permanents, and night guard. You know the cost prior to any work being started.

Do you need to drill on my tooth?

Dr. Houston digitally mocks up your new smile
to be as conservative as possible. This question is unique to each patient and will be addressed during your complimentary consultation.

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers can last 10-15 years depending on the quality of porcelain and how well they are maintained. Regular check ups, wearing a night guard and avoid damaging habits like biting their nails helps improve the longevity of veneers.

How do I care for the veneers?

Regular flossing, brushing, and avoiding sticky foods can help care for your veneers. We hope to see you in our office for regular cleanings by our wonderful hygienists who are trained to clean these types of porcelain veneers. If not please review after protocols with your hygienist so that they can ensure proper care for your new smile!

Does insurance cover veneers?

Veneers are an elective cosmetic enhancement, so they generally are not covered by insurance. We offer personalized financing options to make your investment in your smile as seamless as possible.
